Changing Communities One Classroom at a Time
C2C connects with and empowers local parents to become advocates for their families at their schools and in their communities. Our work began in one classroom, at one preschool. We started small and focused on connecting with and empowering families in the classroom. Since then C2C has grown from serving one classroom to serving over thousands of children and their families at four school districts across Santa Cruz County.
Partnering with schools for lasting impact
As a community connector and family advocacy organization, we focus on schools that are looking for additional support in engaging with families and creating more equitable and inclusive school environments. School partnership is critical to successful family engagement, so we ensure there is buy-in from school admin and staff before launching C2C at new sites. As a part of our expansion beyond Live Oak, we conducted in-depth equity assessments with new districts in order to truly understand the strengths, needs, and dreams of each community. Each school is different and that means we will adapt our approach to meet schools where they are and draw on the aspects that make them unique.
Live Oak Elementary School
Nestled in the heart of Santa Cruz County, Live Oak Elementary serves more than 300 students. Live Oak was the site of our pilot program and continues to be a driving force in creating meaningful educational partnerships that result in outstanding learning journeys for local students.

Green acres elementary school

SHORELINE MIDDLE SCHOOL
Shoreline Middle School is our fourth site in LOSD, where we’re building connections and empowering students through programs that encourage growth and community. Every Wednesday, we host Thrive Outside, giving students a chance to connect with nature and each other, and we also lead the Youth Empowerment Club—a space for students to develop leadership skills, build confidence, and make a positive impact on their school community.
